~Murals in a Hindu Goddess Temple
These two pictures are taken at the entrance of a Hindu goddess temple. The first is a mural of a woman welcoming the devotees to the temple. The second is a mural of a man symbolic of protecting the temple. These shapes are first molded onto the walls with cement or plaster of parix and then painted in bright colors. This kind of artwork was quite popular in India especially in temples and old historic places. These kinds of figures come in wide variety of sizes and colors.

~Japanese Girls wearing Kimonos
In Japan, when a boy or a girl turns to 20 years old, he or she becomes an adult. On the day of their 20th birthday, they will wear "the kimonos" to the temple . The kimono is the traditional costume of Japan. Originally the word "kimono" literally meant "thing to wear."

Today, kimonos are most often worn by women on special occasions. Kimonos are T-shaped, straight-lined robes that fall to the ankle, with collars and wide, full-length sleeves. Kimonos are wrapped around the body, always with the left side over the right (except when dressing the dead for burial) and secured by a wide belt called an obi, which is usually tied at the back. And Kimonos are generally worn with traditional footwear and split-toe socks.

~ Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto
Kiyomizu-dera is a Buddhist temple in eastern Kyoto. The temple is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage site. Not one nail is used in the whole temple.

The temple dates back to 798, and its present buildings were constructed in 1633. It takes its name from the waterfall within the complex, which runs off the nearby hills. Kiyomizu means clear water, or pure water.

The main hall has a veranda, supported by tall pillars, that juts out over the hillside and offers impressive views of the city.

Visible from far away, the bell tower has become a symbol of the city. The tower rises from the town square and dominates the area, square and the imposing buildings in the town centre. The bells of Kastelruth, a big part of the town experience, ring on the hour throughout the day and night.
